Medal, Gem & Resource Farming

Use http://evony.medievalgamer.com/evonymedals.html as a standard guide for lower level farms and NPCs.

Above level 5 NPCs and level 7 valleys you need to scout, and use EVOCALC and test scenarios before jumping. Losing troops can be very expensive.

IMPORTANT:

  1. You need decent levels Military Tradition, Archery (pref lvl9+) & Horseback Riding for success with the above link.
See http://www.theevonywiki.com/NPC/Farming_research  for minimum ball/hero for different MT/Arch/HBR levels
  2. MT needs to be pref 6 or greater and HBR should same or one less than the Archery lvl, otherwise your ballistae arrive at the opposition too fast.
    Basically Arch/BHR should be 7/5, 8/6, 9/9, 10/9 or 10/10 - all other combos can be dangerous.
  3. Medal drops rates seem to be linked to the number of rounds that the battle lasts. So, rainbowing helps (ie. 1 warrior, 1 pikeman, 1 swordsman) and can give a few points of prestige. You must have good ATK levels for your hero to win the fight to get the medal, but having too high an hero ATTH lowers the rounds, so in that case you may want to switch gear points to INT instead.
  4. Lower level valeys/npcs the hero level of 25-50 works. Medium level npcs/valleys use 70-100+ ATK and medium INT heros, and to atk high level valleys (8-10) / npcs (6-10) that contain high numbers of troops you will need heroes of 150+ ATK for lvl 8 & 9 and 250+ for lvl 10 and fairly high INT as well, and if the valleys/npcs contain cavalry you'll need catapults for 0 losses. If you're going for prestige and medals (arch & warr) steer clear of cavalry as they take out all your archers and your warriors will be decimated too.
  5. Can farm NPCs 4 times a day for full yield - they regenerate all their resources in 8 hours, and server maintenance fills up npcs so time to farm soon before (must be completed by end of maint) and just after.

Examples of successful attacks for low level players, with lower tech levels (ie. MT/Arch/HBR of 5/7/5 for NPC1 or 6/8/6 for NPC3)

NPC1
220,459 Honor medal (50 bal, lvl 25 hero)
220,459 Delicate gem (50 bal, lvl 23 hero)
248,611 Delicate Gem (1000 archers, 455 loss -7k gold) , lvl 2 v lvl 16

NPC3
218,461 Delicate gem (330 bal, lvl 17 hero)
227,464 Delicate gem (280 bal, lvl 26 hero)

As your hero lvls and acher/HBR tech levels increase you can increase your valley/npc levels. But give yourself a good margin for success, be cautious, you can lose ALL the troops sent if you get it wrong.

See http://www.theevonywiki.com/NPC/Farming_research  for minimum ball/hero for different MT/Arch/HBR levels.

Resource Farming

When you have 4500 bal and 4000 trans it is better just to have farming setup of 500ball/400trans for all standard attacks whether lvl 4 or 5.

Until then, use the first table in this link for the number of transporters needed to grab all available resources.

Best Percentages for starters:

Low level valleys & level 3 hills give a 23% drop rate
Hit them with low level (25) ATK heroes with 200 archers
You need level 8+ Archery & the same or one less lvl HBR

Honor Medals: Level 4 NPCs

A good place to find Honor Medals is Level 4 NPC’s. Not only do they drop Honor Medals when attacked but, Lion and Courage Medals as well.

Level 4 NPC’s contain a lot of resources which will help you build quickly while you are waiting to advance your rank and title. Specifically they contain 1.6 million food, 120k of each resource, and 300k gold.

Wisdom Medals: Level 5 NPCs

A good place to find Wisdom Medals is Level 5 NPCs. They also drop Lion and Courage Medals as well.

Level 5 NPCs regarded as the best "bang for your Buck" NPC city as it gives the most resources without losses.

NOTE: Level 5 NPCs are much more sensitive to your Archery to Horseback Riding ratio. Hero will gain 93,212 experience.

See http://www.theevonywiki.com/NPC/Farming_research#tab=Level_5 for appropriate Arch/HBR levels. Basically Arch/BHR should be 7/5, 8/6, 9/9, 10/9 or 10/10 - all other combos can be dangerous.

Gems

Another thing you will get while attacking Level 4 & 5 are lots of Gems, both Flawless and Delicate. You will be able to upgrade your hero gear in Age 2 quickly with an abundance of gems.

Evony gems

I suggest upgrading your Rally Spot as much and quickly as you can. This will allow you to send out more attacks and increase your chances of finding an Honor (or other) Medal.

Make a list of every level 4 NPC within 20 miles of you, click on one then click attack. Once you have filled in the numbers for the troops you want to have attack simply go down your list and change the cords for each additional attack. This will save you a ton of time clicking and attacking each individual city.

It takes 8 hours for the resources in an NPC city to regenerate but it only takes 1 hour for troops and defenses to fully recover. To get the full benefit from each attack space them in 8 hour intervals. Also, if you time them so they complete before maintenance, then you can hit them straight after maintenance as well.

Using this strategy you will find that you are able to jump your title from Baronet all the way to Earl in no time. You will also have more food than you know what to do with. A nice bonus.

Level 6-10 NPCs (Mike Scripts & Teleporters)

When you get past lvl 7 valleys you MUST learn and start using EVOCALC (http://evocalc.com) before you do anything.

Read the instructions on EVOCALC first before you do any PvP battles or lvl 6-10 NPC or lvl 8-10 valleys. Use EVOCALC to carefully to test different scenarios.

  1. Import the scout report,
  2. set your heroes: ATK lvl and INT lvl ( i put in a 70 ATl and 40INT hero as standard for anything under lvl8 and 100ATK and 70INT for lvl 7 - 10)
  3. set your tech lvls (mil trad, iron work, archery, horse ridng, compass, medicine)
  4. set the opponents tech lvls to whatever the valley/npc lvl is

Tips

1.

Avoid valleys with cav coz they'll decimate archers
Catapults come in handy or high lvl valleys, ballistae are still is good for npc, but you also add lots of warriors and expect losses and that way you can
start picking up mike scripts and teleports from high lvl valleys.

To get good medal drops use high int medium atk heros, lose some warriors and don't over commit troops (smash em and you get very little)

Players come back at me and say "but i hit this lvl 8 valley and won before, so why did this other loss happen?"
You gotta stick to the rules, coz they take into account a fully laden valley/npc at that lvl. sometimes you get lucky with a light valley or npc, but you don't want to lose 6k archers becoz it worked once before... :-)

2.

You should be using catapults and many (25-100k+) archers for high level valleys and npcs

When attacking a 7-10 npc for resources keep scouting it until the lv of the hero is single digit. It will change every time you scout, when the hero is 1-9 (or 10-15) Hit it!

3.

If you have catapults and archery level 10, you can take cavalry valleys with any combination of troops EXCEPT those with archers without losses.
warrior/sword/pike valley's = just archers to kill (no losses)
cav + any combo of warrior/sword/pike valley's = 1 catapult + archers to kill (no losses)
all archer valley's = cav + 1 archer to kill (you lose the archer)
I have not found a way to take mixed valleys of archers with anything else without taking losses. If someone finds one I'd love to know.

High Level Valleys

They would work for specific combos of troops defending that valley:

  1. Workers, warriors, pikemen, scouts, or swordsmen - balistas should be able to take with no losses without even layering your attack. You would have to send a minimum amount in though or else defending troops will reach your balistas before you have killed them all.

  2. If there are archers defending - I really doubt balistas would be able to take that without losses. Maybe if you sent a catapult in (defending archers first target attacking units with largest range). That would buy you only one extra round though, and catapults would slow your troop movement hell a lot. Not to mention you need lvl10 barracks to make them and lvl10 metal casting.

  3. If there are cavalry defending - mechanics more messy here. But the general picture is you will always take losses if there are cavalry defending, definitely on a lvl 10 valley anyway which is what most people try to take, because a lvl10 valley has lvl10 horse back riding, which means defending cav will be close enough to your balistas in just 1 or 2 rounds of battle to do damage. If you layered your attack your losses should look different, but there seems to be some nonsense going on:
I've attacked lvl10 valleys with defending cav loads of times, which archers in a rainbow formation (30K arch, 1K worker, 1K warrior, 1K scout, 1K pikemen, 1K swordsmen). Somehow defending cav often fly over my units doing no damage to the 1K layers and hit my archers full on.
